Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
Matthew 7:24-25
As the scripture reminds us, the journey to discover Truth must first be built upon sound footings. Divine Mercy Academy is committed to fostering the formation of a solid foundation for children by focusing on the whole person: intellectually, physically, spiritually, and morally. Steeped in the traditions of Western civilization, children will be empowered to approach and embrace the good, the true, and the beautiful—the rock upon which a life in the image of Christ must be built.
Philosophical and Religious Foundations
In all educational endeavors the realization of truth must be the object, for without such a pursuit what is the purpose of learning? The First Vatican Council delineates that the path to knowledge is twofold: natural reason and divine faith. In contemporary times, the concept of knowledge has strayed from this path, and as such, led the youth of our society on a descent into nihilism. However, human history shows that we are continuously on a journey to discover truth. As Pope John Paul II taught:
“Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation
of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to
know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to
the fullness of truth about themselves.”
